Welcome to 1847USA, an identification site for U.S. Postage Stamps. The easiest way to navigate this site is to enter your keyword or Scott number in the box above and click on the "Search" button. Links on the Home Page are in BOLD WHITE. A monitor  with a resolution of at least 1280x1024 is highly recommended.

Please note, we do not cover U.S. Revenues, Possessions or Postal Stationery, nor was this site designed to provide values for your stamps. For information on stamp values, see the Scott Specialized Catalogue of U.S. Stamps and Covers or the PSE Stamp Market Quarterly. You can also check stamp values by looking up your stamp by Scott number on eBay. Keep in mind that condition and centering are often more important in determining a stamp's value than the Scott number alone. Another excellent source may be found by visiting Philatelic Auction Web Sites, or consider purchasing a catalog..

If you feel you have compelling evidence that contradicts any information provided on this site, by all means, please let us know. In any event, you are encouraged to use this site as a starting point and to seek information from other sources as well, in particular by seeking out the suggested additional readings.
